About me, in no particular order

Read
2 min

Most of this site is about things I have built. This post is about the person who built them, so it is going to wander a little.

The short version

I am Anish. I live in Mumbai, India. I build software, mostly tools that find the signal in messy data: option chains, spreadsheets, security graphs. I am more of a maker than a specialist, and I would rather be good at the whole path from an idea to something working than expert in one narrow corner.

What I am like

A few things are true about me however I describe them:

  • I like making things. If something does not exist yet, or exists in a way I do not like, my first instinct is to build it.
  • I am artistic and crafty. That is not a separate side of me that switches on after work. It is the same part that cares whether a screen looks right.
  • I am curious, and I like trying new things, even when I will be bad at them at first.
  • I put a lot of effort into whatever I am doing, which has consequences, as you will read in a later post.
  • I drink a lot of tea.
  • I like being physically strong, and I keep track of it. Right now that means 50 push-ups and a 100 lb deadlift, which I am working on.

What I am working on

The current mission, in the language of this site, is ChainDeck, a live analytics dashboard for NIFTY options. Before that came Unbake, which recovers spreadsheet formulas from plain values, and GraphSentinel, an investigation agent for security alerts. They look unrelated, and the common thread is not an accident: all three take something opaque and make its structure visible.

How I work

I like small, checkable steps. I like tests that can fail. I prefer a tool I can run on my own machine to one that needs an account. And I like writing things down, which is why this blog exists: explaining a project is the fastest way to find out whether I understood it.

Why a blog with personal posts

Portfolios usually hide the person behind a list of skills. I would rather you could tell what I am like to work with, and what I care about when nobody is grading it. So alongside the technical posts there will be a few like this one.

Where to find me

My code is on GitHub as anish891. I post on X as @anish_891. If you want to talk about a role, a project or just something you have built, the contact form at the bottom of the home page and my email both work.
